why it exists
i kept bookmarking a different site for every small thing i needed to do.
one site for generating passwords. another for converting pdfs. another for qr codes. another for compressing images. most of them were covered in ads, asked for your email before letting you do anything, or uploaded your files to some server you knew nothing about. it was annoying in the specific way that things are annoying when they don't have to be.
so i built toolbits. one place. everything runs locally in your browser. nothing is collected. nothing is tracked. just tools that work.
what's inside
qr code generator, image hosting, pdf to word converter, password generator, markdown to html converter, color palette extractor. the list keeps growing. the goal was never to build one impressive tool, it was to build a library that actually covers the things developers reach for on a regular basis.
built with next.js and tailwind css. the design is clean and focused because the tools themselves should be the whole point. open source, so anyone can contribute and make it better.
still going
toolbits is a living project. new tools get added as the need comes up, and the repo is open for anyone who wants to throw something in. it doesn't have a grand ambition behind it, which is honestly why it works. it's just useful, and it stays that way.
sometimes the best thing you can build is the one that quietly solves a problem you kept running into. toolbits is exactly that.
let's build something worth talking about
