my tech journey

Article Thumbnail

i’ve always been close to computers since i was a kid. i had this small acer laptop i’d use to run basic html tests, playing around with h1 tags and colors. that curiosity never left me.

deep down, i always knew i’d end up as a software engineer, but i never seriously thought about building that skill until november 2023. i had just finished secondary school and decided to take a year off before entering university. that decision changed everything.

table of contents:

starting out

i grew up tinkering with anything tech related. from changing wallpapers to exploring file systems, it all fascinated me. that acer laptop became my lab where i learned how simple code could shape a webpage. those small experiments were my first lessons in programming.

learning at niit

in 2023, i joined niit for a fullstack development program. i studied html, css, php, javascript, sql, and logic systems. that was where everything really started taking shape. i met one of the kindest programmers i’ve ever known, wisdom kings, who taught me with patience and made every concept easier to grasp.

during that time, i met someone special. we worked together on one project, and somewhere between trying to meet the deadline, we got close. we’re dating now, and she’s become one of my biggest supporters. she keeps me grounded and reminds me to enjoy the process, not just chase results.

modern tech stack

in 2024, i learned modern frameworks like react, tailwind, and nextjs. that was when i realized i had a knack for crafting interfaces. i started paying attention to design, typography, and how everything feels together. i applied for jobs, got a few roles, and worked on real projects that shaped how i approach development.

turning point

by late 2024, i had two frontend roles and a clearer direction. in october, i got admitted into babcock university to study software engineering. that year was a major turning point. i saw my skills grow, my confidence rise, and my passion solidify into something I could call a career.

2025 came with more growth. i started working on my startup, handled high-end client projects, and learned to balance school and work better. every challenge taught me something new, and every win reminded me why i chose this path.

gratitude

i’m grateful to my parents for believing in my decision to take a year off after high school. that space gave me time to grow. i’m thankful to wisdom kings for his guidance and patience, and to the amazing girl in my life who’s been there through late nights and early mornings. above all, i thank God for bringing me this far and for everything that’s still ahead.
